Šibenik School of Economics Marks Data Protection Day with a Visit to Trokut
On the occasion of Data Protection Day, Trokut Šibenik welcomed students from Ekonomska škola Šibenik: first-year students from class 1.e (Administrative and Business Assistant program) and second-year students from class 2.e (Administrative Assistant program). They were accompanied by teachers Ana Gulin (Computer Science), Branka Dželalija (Economics), and Ivan Krnčević (Computer Science), who also serve as senior ambassadors of the EPAS programme. The visit was organized as part of field-based learning for the subjects Information and Communication Technologies in Office Management and Computer Science.
During their visit, students:
learned the basic principles of personal data protection
discovered why information security is essential in office and administrative operations
learned how to identify security risks in the digital environment
gained insight into the practical application of IT systems in a business environment
Through an interactive lecture and real-life examples, students were introduced to the importance of responsible data management, particularly in the context of public administration and office operations.
As part of the Introduction to Entrepreneurship course, our colleague Ivan Šoda gave a presentation introducing students to the concept of coworking and explaining how Trokut supports young entrepreneurs and development projects.
Students also learned about:
Trokut’s role in the local community
its organization and structure
the role of the Entrepreneurial Support Institution
the role and importance of the Regional Science Centre
projects and educational programmes implemented by Trokut
A special contribution to the programme was made by EPAS junior ambassadors Tea Blaće and Leona Vrcić, who presented the international EPAS programme in which Ekonomska škola Šibenik participates. They also shared their experience of visiting Željana Zovko, a Member of the European Parliament, in Brussels, and highlighted the importance of active citizenship and European initiatives.
To conclude the visit, the students visited the VR room, where they had the opportunity to try out VR headsets and explore the possibilities that virtual reality offers for educational and development purposes.
